EPR deadlines: when to declare in each country

Last checked ยท 2 min read

EPR deadlines mostly fall in spring: for 2026, you declare in France and Belgium by 28 February 2027, in the Netherlands by 31 March, and file the German Declaration of Completeness by 15 May. Many schemes have no fixed national date at all. This page lists what is confirmed, and says plainly what is not.

In short
  • +28 February: packaging declaration to Citeo (France, window opens 1 January) and to Fost Plus (Belgium) for the previous year.
  • +31 March: annual declaration to Verpact (Netherlands), if you are above 50,000 kg.
  • +15 May: the Declaration of Completeness in Germany, only above the thresholds.
  • +The routine German data report and most electronics and battery schemes have no confirmed fixed national date.

Every scheme and its deadline

This table comes straight from Channelsum's scheme data. Where no date is shown, no fixed national date has been confirmed; the rhythm then usually follows your contract with the scheme. Ask when you join and put it in your calendar.

Why some schemes have no date

Not every scheme works with a single national deadline. In Germany, reports to your dual system follow the terms of your contract, monthly, quarterly or yearly, and the LUCID data report mirrors them. At stiftung ear the rhythm for electronics depends on your registration. An invented date is worse than none: whoever relies on it misses the real one.

How to prepare

  1. 1Close your year in January. Make sure all of last year's sales, from every channel, are in, including the last December orders.
  2. 2Check your product data. Does every product sold have a packaging weight per material? A product without a weight does not count, and you under-declare.
  3. 3Calculate per country and per material. See calculating packaging weight.
  4. 4Start with France and Belgium, which close first, then the Netherlands, then Germany.
  5. 5Record what you filed. If you correct a weight later, you must still be able to see what you declared at the time.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Verpact declaration due?

The annual declaration for the previous calendar year is due by 31 March. Below 50,000 kg of packaging a year you do not need to declare.

When do I declare to Citeo?

Between 1 January and 28 February, for the previous year's packaging.

What is the LUCID deadline?

The routine data report has no fixed national date: it follows your reports to your dual system. The Declaration of Completeness, only above the thresholds, is due by 15 May.

What if I miss a deadline?

File as soon as possible and contact the scheme. Late declarations can lead to an estimate by the scheme, fines or, on marketplaces, blocked listings.
